Description
Whickham Thorns Farmhouse is a house built in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with large quoins and features a pantiled roof that has two corniced brick chimneys at either end. The building has two storeys and three windows. The central bay contains two 19th-century doors that have been inserted under a flat stone lintel. The windows have been altered to casements and are set in chamfered stone surrounds. The roof has a low gable parapet made of large stepped stones. At the rear, there is a one-storey, one-bay offshoot with a catslide roof, which includes a folding boarded door and an external flight of stone steps leading to a boarded kitchen entrance. Inside, there is a 19th-century staircase, and the doors have been boarded over.
