Description

No. 4 Cross View is a house that dates from the early 18th century and was remodelled around 1800. It is constructed of random pink sandstone with beige ashlar dressings and has a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and three bays. The central entrance features a half-glazed door set in a raised stone surround, while the sash windows are also framed by similar stone surrounds. The window in the centre of the first floor has been blocked and is smaller than the others, indicating it was part of the original design before the remodelling. The roof is steeply pitched and gabled, with old brick stacks at each end and raised coping. At the rear, there is a projecting wing and a single-storey outshut that includes 12-pane sash windows. Inside, the house features a staircase with stick balusters, six-panel doors, and one early 19th-century cast-iron fireplace.
