Description

No. 20 Front Street is a house dating from around 1720. It is constructed of coursed squared pinkish sandstone and has a roof made of pantiles. The building stands two storeys high and features five windows, with one bay set back slightly to the right and at a lower height. The main block has five bays and a central door that is framed by a round-headed raised surround, complete with impost blocks and a keystone. Giant pilasters support an entablature that encloses a first-floor band. All windows are sash style and have 19th-century glazing bars, with architraves around them. The set-back bay includes a plank door beneath a stone lintel, with a similar sash window above it. The return gable is made of limestone rubble. The gables have overlapping stone coping, and there are two brick chimneys at the ends. The set-back bay features a hipped roof.
