Description
Storey House is a mid-18th century building that was originally a house and cottage. It is constructed of brick and has a roof made of pantiles. The structure features two storeys, with a five-bay house and a one-bay cottage on the left. The sash windows are equipped with projecting stone sills and flat brick heads. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door beneath a rectangular fanlight, framed by a flat Tuscan doorcase that has a bracketed, corniced canopy above. The roof has swept eaves and includes two brick chimneys at the ends, along with one located between the house and the cottage.
Inside, the building contains three-panelled doors with architraves and some cornices. The main room on the ground floor showcases a Gothic revival stone chimney piece, flanked by round-headed cupboard openings that feature architraves, false key-stones, and impost blocks. The staircase is a narrow open well design, with two turned balusters per tread and a wide serpentine-section handrail that has a curtail.
