Description

The stable range to the north of No. 1 Wallington Demesne Front Row in Cambo dates from around 1740, with minor alterations made around 1880. It is constructed of squared stone with dressings and features a slate roof. The elevation facing the yard is one storey plus attics and consists of seven irregular bays. There are chamfered doorways in bays 1 (which has a boarded door), 4 (with an altered door), and 7 (where a stable door has been re-set in a blocked segmental-arched cart entrance). The windows include sliding sashes without glazing bars, a boarded window in old stone surrounds located in a gabled half-dormer in bay 2, and an inserted 19th-century window in bay 6. The right gable displays moulded kneelers and overlapped slab coping, along with a stepped rendered ridge stack. To the right of the door in bay 1, there is a three-step mounting block. The rear elevation features a boarded door in a chamfered surround and two late 19th-century sashes.
