Description
The Middle Stead is a house dating from the late 18th century, constructed from roughly-squared stone with stone dressings and a slate roof. It is two storeys high and features three symmetrical bays. The central door has been altered and is topped by a six-pane overlight, all beneath a 20th-century wooden porch. The house has sixteen-pane sash windows with slightly projecting sills. The gables are coped, and there are stepped and corniced end stacks with conjoined shafts. At the rear, there is a contemporary outshut and a 19th-century wing to the left.
Inside, the house includes a staircase with stick balusters, four-panel doors, and panelled shutters.
