Description
The Cambo War Memorial is located on elevated ground in the southern part of the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church. It features a 5-meter tall obelisk made of grey granite, which is square in shape. At the top of the obelisk, there is a wreath carved in relief. The obelisk is set upon a shallow cornice that sits on a tapering plinth, which in turn rests on a three-stepped base.
The main dedicatory inscription on the front face of the plinth reads: "TO THE UNDYING MEMORY OF THE MEN OF CAMBO PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY DURING THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918." The names of 22 men who lost their lives are inscribed on the other three faces of the plinth. Three of these names include the years of death (two in 1919 and one in 1920), indicating that these men died, likely due to the effects of their wounds, after the 1918 Armistice.
