Description
This building is a cartshed, granary, and bothy dating from the early 19th century, located 100 metres northeast of Rennington South-East Farmhouse in Rennington Village. It is constructed from squared tooled stone with tooled-and-margined dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The structure is L-shaped, with the north wall rising two storeys and comprising five bays. It has a segmental arcade beneath chamfered window openings that have slightly projecting sills, topped by a hipped roof. The right side of the building includes an external stone stair leading to a boarded door. The left side has three bays and is a single storey; the left part serves as the bothy, with the end bay featuring a boarded door in a chamfered surround and a Percy crescent above it, along with a two-light chamfered mullioned window to the right. The left end gable has pitched coping and a stepped-and-corniced ridge stack. The rear elevation of the bothy includes a first-floor four-pane sash window in a chamfered surround with a slightly projecting sill, as well as a part-slatted window in the end wall of the outshut on the right. Inside, the bothy contains an old range made by Reavell Bros. Ltd. of Alnwick.
