Description
The Rennington War Memorial is a 3-meter tall structure located in the churchyard of All Saints’ Church, to the north-west of the church tower. It is designed as a wheel-head cross made of sandstone from Denwick Quarry. The cross shaft rises from a tapering pedestal, which is set on a two-stage base.
On the front face of the pedestal, there is a principal dedicatory inscription that reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918." The names of those commemorated are listed on the front face of the upper stage of the base. Below this, on the lower stage, it states: "THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY THE INHABITANTS OF RENNINGTON AND DISTRICT."
