Description

Rennington Moor Farmhouse and attached farm buildings date from the earlier 18th century and were altered in the 19th century. The structure is built of rubble with roughly-shaped quoins and dressings, featuring tooled-and-margined dressings on the 19th-century parts. The roof is primarily covered with pantiles, except for the porch and the central part of the range, which have Welsh slates. The stacks have been rebuilt in brick.

On the south elevation, the house is to the right and has two low storeys with four windows. There is a central gabled 19th-century porch that has a vertical-panelled door in a chamfered surround, flanked by four-pane sash windows. The first-floor windows, which are set close beneath the eaves, are mostly two-pane casements, except for an eight-pane Yorkshire sash at the left end. The gables have raised coping, and the end stacks, with the left one rebuilt on a broader old base, are prominent features. The right return of the house shows an external stone stair leading to a boarded door. The attached farm buildings are single storey; the two-bay section on the right has a boarded door at the left end and four-pane sash windows, with a coped left end gable. The left end section, which is set slightly back, is a hemmel with a pair of segmental arches and raised reverse-stepped coping to the end gable. On the rear elevation, the attached barn at the center has a boarded door in an alternating-block surround on the inner return.

This building is a rare surviving example of a linear farmstead. The presence of the external stair suggests that at least part of the upper floor of the house may have been used as a granary.
