Description
The outbuildings around the stable yard at Allenheads Hall date from the mid-19th century. They are constructed of squared stone with ashlar dressings and feature slate roofs. The west range has four irregular bays: the first two bays form a tall single storey with blind windows and a hipped roof; the third bay contains a three-stage clock tower with a clock in the second stage and belfry openings above, topped with a heavy cornice; the fourth bay is a single storey with a lean-to roof. To the left, there is a lower link to the Hall.
The east range consists of a two-storey, four-bay stable block with a plinth, two boarded doors, a segmental-headed cart entrance, and 12-pane sash windows. It has corbels at the eaves and a hipped roof with a stone ridge stack. To the right, there is a set-back single-storey section with boarded doors that links to the Hall. At the rear right of the stable block, and set at a higher level, is a two-storey cottage with two narrow bays: it has a boarded door with a 16-pane sash window to the left, a narrow sash window, and a 12-pane sash above. The roof is hipped to the left, with a gable and stone stack to the right. The entrance to the yard is on the north side, flanked by square piers with pyramidal caps.
