Description

Iceton House is a late 18th-century house that originally served as the pay office for lead mines. The front is made of ashlar stone, while the side and rear walls are constructed from rubble, featuring tooled rusticated quoins and a slate roof. The building has one tall storey and three bays. It includes a plinth and a doorway located between the first and second bays, which has rusticated alternating jambs and a false keystone. The windows are 12-pane sash types set in moulded boxes, with wedge lintels that also have false keystones and slightly projecting sills. The hipped roof is topped with a weathervane that bears the inscription "Sir T.B. 1790." The left side of the house features a 12-pane sash window with a tooled lintel. The rear elevation has been altered and includes a brick stack. There is some uncertainty regarding whether the weathervane originally belonged to Iceton House or the nearby Allenheads Inn.
