Description

The Nixon headstone, dating from 1822, is located 2 metres south of the south-west corner of the Church of St. Peter in Humshaugh Village. Made of sandstone, the headstone features a shaped top with a central panel that displays an urn and antefixae adorned with palmette ornamentation. The inscription below commemorates Thomas Nixon, a mason and operative builder of the chapel. This headstone is included for its historic interest.
