Description
The garden walls to the west of Humshaugh House date from the 18th century and include some earlier materials. The walls are primarily constructed of brick, with some sections made of stone. The tall brick wall on the north side of the garden is built in English garden wall bond, alternating between one and five bricks, and features a flat stone coping. There is a boarded door set in an alternating-block surround next to the house. The wall on the west side is made of browner brick in a bond of one and seven bricks and slopes downhill. The lower courses at the north end are made of stone and also have a boarded door. This wall connects to a lower stone section that is not of special interest. The rear elevation of the north wall includes rubble masonry and large, roughly-shaped quoins from an older building.
