Description
Teesdale House East and Teesdale House West is a late 17th-century house, now divided into two dwellings. The building dates from 1690, as indicated by the initials "I E" on the lintel, and has been altered in the 18th century and restored in the late 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with long, roughly-shaped quoins and cut dressings, topped with a Lakeland slate roof.
The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The central bay features a flush-panelled door set in a moulded surround with a flat-pointed head, above which is a small two-light chamfered mullioned window. The left bay contains similar three-light windows that were heightened in the 19th century. The right bay has 19th-century copies of these windows, while remains of 18th-century windows can be seen on either side. All openings are adorned with hoodmoulds. The gables are coped with moulded kneelers, and there are stepped and corniced stacks at the ends.
There is a 20th-century extension to the rear that is not of interest.
