Description
Dale House and Dale Cottage are a pair of houses dated 1664, featuring the initials TD ND on the lintel. The buildings have been altered in the late 19th century and later in the 20th century. They are constructed from rubble with large, roughly-shaped quoins and cut dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof.
The south elevation has three wide bays with doorways between them. The left doorway is boarded, set in a moulded surround with a flat-pointed head and a dated lintel, and is sheltered by a later rustic wood porch. The right doorway is a 20th-century glazed door in a chamfered surround made of large irregular blocks. The left bays feature three-light chamfered mullioned windows, some of which have been renewed, holding small-paned metal casements. The right bay has been partly rebuilt and has 20th-century windows. There are low stone end stacks, and the left return displays two 19th-century two-light mullioned windows. The rear has 20th-century extensions that are not of interest.
