Description
The Old Smithy, located 200 metres east of Sturton Grange Farmhouse, is a smithy dating from the early to mid 19th century. The front is made of snecked squared rubble, while the other walls are constructed from rubble with cut quoins and dressings. It has a pantile roof. The front wall features a pair of stable doors near the centre and boarded windows with slightly projecting sills on either side. The gables are coped, and there is a stepped-and-banded stack at the right end. There is a blocked window on the left side and a blocked door at the rear. Inside, there is an old forge with a stepped brick hood.
