Description
Wood House Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 18th century, with an early 19th-century wing. It is constructed of squared tooled stone, while the 19th-century part features roughly-squared stone with tooled quoins and dressings. The roof is made of synthetic blue slate and has orange brick stacks. The building has a rectangular shape with an L-plan north-west wing.
The south elevation of the main part is two storeys high and has three bays, arranged symmetrically. It features a plinth and a central flush-panelled door, flanked by 12-pane sash windows. The steeply-pitched roof has coped gables and end stacks. The two-storey, two-bay wing on the left is set back and displays 12-pane sashes below and 6-pane sashes above, all within chamfered alternating-block surrounds with slightly-projecting sills. There is a left end stack.
The left return of the main block has a 12-pane sash on the ground floor and a blind slit in the gable, while the right return features similar sashes on both floors. On the rear elevation, the 18th-century part has a blocked doorway to the right of centre, with a 4-pane casement inserted, and a 12-pane sash stair window above it; there is also an inserted door in the right bay. The projecting part of the wing to the right has a 16-pane sash, a 6-pane sash on the left return, and a 12-pane short sash at first-floor level on the right return, topped by a hipped roof.
