Description
Higher Woodhall is a house dating from the late 18th century, featuring rendered stone walls and a hipped slate roof. It has brick stacks at both ends of the front block and at the rear wing. The layout includes two equal-sized rooms at the front, a central entrance lobby with stairs, and a service wing behind the left-hand room. There is a 19th-century lean-to adjoining the wing.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front, showcasing original 20-pane sash windows, with the central first-floor window having 16 panes. The ground floor right-hand window has been replaced by a 20th-century glazed door. A late 20th-century facsimile six-panel door is located at the centre, topped by a pedimented doorhood supported by wooden columns. The wing extends at the rear of the left-hand end, with a 19th-century outshut built against the inner face. Inside, the front rooms feature simple decorative plaster cornices.
