Description

Summers Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century. It features rendered cob walls and a thatched roof that is hipped to the left and half-hipped at the right end, with a slate roof on the outbuilding. The cottage has a central axial brick stack and a symmetrical baffle entry with a two-room plan, each room heated by the central stack, with the entry located in front of the stack. The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical five-window front, with 19th-century two-light small-paned casements. The central entrance has a 19th-century four-panel door beneath a slate doorhood supported by curved wooden braces. There is also a 19th-century lower outbuilding attached at the left-hand end. The interior was inaccessible during the survey but may contain original joinery.
