Description

The outbuildings and gate piers located to the north of Sturton Grange Farmhouse date from the late 18th century and were altered in the mid-19th century. They are primarily constructed of brick, except for the rear wall of the north range and the east range, which are made of rubble with rock-faced quoins and dressings. The gate piers are made of cut sandstone, and the roofs are covered with Welsh slate.

The buildings form an L-shaped group on the west and north sides of a yard, with a separate building on the east and a gateway at the south end. The west range consists of two sections: the left part is a two-storey structure from the 18th century that was heightened in the 19th century, featuring three bays. It has a central boarded door and renewed casement windows, with a former doorway on the ground floor to the left, all set in alternating-block surrounds. To the right, there is a single-storey bay with boarded double doors beneath a timber lintel. The single-storey north range has a central boarded door and a part-slatted window to the left, both in chamfered alternating-block surrounds, and C20 doors under a timber lintel to the right. The roof of this range is hipped to the right. The single-storey east range contains two boarded doors and also has a hipped roof. The adjacent gateway features square piers topped with pyramidal caps.

The rear elevation of the west range displays several casement windows in alternating-block surrounds, while the rear of the east range includes a boarded hatch and a small window. These structures are included for their group value.
