Coach House, Outbuilding, Yard Walls And Gatepiers North East Of Southside Farmhouse

The coach house, outbuilding, yard walls, and gate piers located northeast of Southside Farmhouse date from the early 19th century. They are constructed of rubble with tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings, featuring cut sandstone piers and Welsh slate roofs, with one brick stack. This L-plan group is situated to the north and east of a small yard, with walls on the south side that include a gateway and a west link to the northeast corner of the farmhouse.

The coach house on the north side has boarded double doors set under a segmental arch, with a window to the left that has renewed glazing. It features a coped left gable and a ridge stack that has been rebuilt on an old base. The east range includes a 20th-century garage door, a boarded door to the right, and a window with renewed glazing to the left, along with a coped right gable. The door and windows are framed in chamfered alternating-block surrounds. The gateway is marked by square piers topped with pyramidal caps. A 2-meter high wall on the west side of the yard has pitched coping and an opening near the south end.

The northward continuation of the east range beyond the yard has been altered and is not of special interest. This structure is included for its group value.
