Description

This early 19th-century coach house stands to the north of the stable block at Compton Verney. The building is constructed of brick with a front wall of coursed squared stone, featuring ashlar dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof. It follows a two-unit plan.

The exterior presents a plain cornice. Two elliptical-headed coach entrances are on the left side; these contain paired plank doors. The left door of each entrance has a small-paned iron-framed window. One right door is missing, and another is damaged, with a shutter covering a barred opening. Three square windows are on the right side, the central window having been altered to a stable door. The roof has lost its original cladding. The left return side of the coach house contains a stone pediment with a round window, and a gate pier is attached to the corner.

Inside, remnants of stable fittings are visible on the right part, with rings remaining in the walls.
