Description
Combe Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled thatched roof with a brick cross-axial stack. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window range.
The entrance, which has been altered, is located to the right of the centre and features a timber lintel above a lower 20th-century door. On the ground floor, there is an old single-light window flanked by two windows with late 20th-century casements; the window to the right is below a timber lintel that marks a former entrance. The first floor contains a large window and a small window, both fitted with 2-light leaded casements that have wrought-iron casement fasteners.
The right side of the cottage has an attached porch that leads to The Little House (which is not included in this listing), and it features windows under a timber lintel with pegged 2-light leaded casements and an iron opening casement. At the rear, there is a lean-to outshut with a slate roof and an old first-floor window flanked by 20th-century gabled dormers.
Combe Cottage is part of a row of four houses that includes Nos. 27, 28, and 29, which are of group value.
