Description

27 Village Street is a house located in Combrook, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a steeply pitched thatched roof with a brick end stack topped with a 20th-century cap. The house has a two-unit plan and is a single storey with an attic, presenting a two-window range on the front facade.

The entrance is positioned to the left of center and includes a timber lintel above a renewed plank door, which is set within a gabled porch that has a front light and a return opening. To the right of the entrance, there are two windows, each with timber lintels; one is a two-light casement and the other is a single-light window, both featuring leaded glazing. The first floor mirrors this arrangement with similar windows that have wrought-iron casement fasteners.

On the left side of the house, there is a ground floor window with a two-light casement and an iron opening casement, along with a single-light window above it. At the rear, there is a 20th-century single-storey stone wing with a gabled tile roof and a patio door at the end, as well as a raking roof dormer, likely from the 20th century.

This house is part of a row of four houses, which includes Nos. 28, 29, and 30, all of which are of group value. The interior has not been inspected.
