Description
The Smithy is a smithy or forge with an attached stable, built in 1711, and has undergone minor alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed stone and features pantile roofs with raised coped gables. The building is single storey.
The south-west front has a slightly higher forge on the right, which includes a single plank door and a single 2-light window with original glazing and an external plank shutter. To the left is the slightly lower stable, which has late 20th-century double plank doors, and on the left return gable wall, there is a single plank door.
Inside the smithy, there is a brick arched forge on the gable wall, although the external chimney stack has been removed. A large set of bellows still remains beside the hearth. The roof features a single central pine collar truss and original front purlins.
