Description
The Old Station Buildings, now known as Greens Agricultural Merchants, were originally the terminus for the Blyth and Tyne Railway, built in 1864. The building is constructed of dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. It is two stories tall with a five-bay central section flanked by single-storey wings.
The central section includes a prominent stone gabled porch with a panelled door on the right side. To the left, there is a second panelled door with a fanlight, set in a raised alternating-block surround. The ground floor has round-headed 12-pane sash windows in similar surrounds, while the first floor features 12-pane sashes in matching surrounds. The building is topped with a dentil cornice and has a gabled roof, along with two end stacks and two ridge stacks.
Each wing contains one round-headed window that matches the central section. The right wing has an extension that includes three small lunette windows. The rear of the building displays similar architectural details.
