Description

Netherton Hall East, West, and West Wing is a house that has been subdivided. The east part of the main range likely dates from the 17th century and was remodeled in the 18th century. The west part is early 18th century, heightened in the later 18th century, while the west wing and porch are from the early 19th century. The east part of the main range is constructed of coursed rubble that has been heightened with squared stone, whereas the west part features squared stone with an ashlar porch and a rubble left return. The west wing is made of squared stone on the west side and rubble on the east. The roof is primarily covered with Welsh slate, except for one rear slope that has a 20th-century synthetic roof covering. The building is arranged in an L-plan.

The south elevation has three storeys and six bays. The right three-bay section has four steps leading up to central renewed double doors and 12-pane sash windows, some of which have been renewed. The masonry in this section may be from the 17th century, with traces of blocked openings visible up to the first-floor sill level. The left part features a central porch with a renewed half-glazed door and side-lights under a hoodmould, along with single-light windows on the returns, all set in chamfered surrounds. The ground floor has 12-pane sash or fixed windows, some renewed, with stone surrounds. The roof is hipped to the left, with a coped right gable, and has a stepped-and-corniced ridge with stacks at the right end.

The left return has two storeys and seven bays. The right two-bay section marks the end of the main block and features 12-pane sashes with blocked windows to the right. The left part has 12-pane sashes, except for one that has been altered to a French window, and a round-arched stair window on the right, which is a 12-pane sash with a radial-glazed head. This section also has a coped left gable, stepped-and-corniced ridge stacks, and a left end stack.

The rear elevation of the main range shows a two-storey outshut with varied fenestration. The interior has not been inspected, except for the west wing, which contains a ground floor room featuring a dentil and guilloche cornice.
