Description

This 18th-century garden wall, with alterations from the 19th century, surrounds Netherton Hall. The wall is constructed of squared stone and brick in English Garden Wall Bond, with a pattern of one course of brick for every four courses of stone. The east section has a flat stone coping. An incurved section at the south-east corner features a gateway flanked by tooled-and-margined piers surmounted by ball finials. The south wall has stone lower courses with brick above, and the stepped downhill coping originally carried railings. A further incurved section at the west end is entirely stone, with gate piers that have low pyramidal caps.
