Description
Netherton Blue House Farmhouse is a house dated 'ANNO 1716' on the lintel of the first-floor center window. The front is made of squared stone, while the rear is rendered. It has a Welsh slate roof with rendered brick stacks. The building is two storeys high and has five symmetrical bays. It features a plinth and a first-floor band. The three-bay center has broad pilasters between the bays and a moulded eaves cornice. The narrow central bay has a blocked doorway and a pediment; the windows, which were formerly 16-pane sashes, have lost all carpentry and all openings are in architraves. The gables are coped with end stacks, although the left end stack has fallen. The slightly-recessed end bays each have a blocked doorway and plain window openings, with coped gables and moulded kneelers. At the time of the survey, the building was derelict and virtually roofless, with most openings bricked up. The interior was not accessible. Photographs of the house's exterior and interior, which show contemporary fireplaces and stairs, are available in the National Monuments Record.
