Description
The Trotter Memorial Drinking Fountain is a drinking fountain dated 1899, located on Front Street West in Bedlington. It is constructed from red sandstone ashlar, featuring white marble and pink granite. The fountain has a square plan, with the lower section showcasing stepped diagonal buttresses and a moulded granite bowl on the east side, beneath a tablet inscribed in memory of Dr. James Trotter. The upper section includes niches with an impost band decorated with carved foliage, with the eastern niche displaying a marble bas-relief bust of Dr. Trotter. The structure is topped with crocketed gablets and corner pinnacles, along with a taller superstructure that features similar ornamental details.
