Description

This is a milepost located 1/4 mile north of West Mains, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape, standing approximately 2 feet 6 inches high with a rounded back. One side is inscribed with "BEL" for Belford, while the other side has "BER" for Berwick, along with the distances of 6 1/2 miles and 8 miles. The top of the milepost features the letter "L" for London.
