Description

This is a milepost dating from the early 19th century, located by Scremerston Old Coal Mine. It is made of cast iron and features a triangular shape with a rounded back and a canted top. One side is inscribed with "BEL" for Belford, the opposite side has "BER" for Berwick, and the top displays "L" for London along with the distance markings "1l½" and "3 331".
