Description
The Cottage is a house with attached outbuildings, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of dressed stone and features Lakeland slate roofs, while the outbuilding on the right has a pantiled roof and brick chimneys. The main building is two storeys high and has three bays, with single-storey, one-bay outbuildings on either side.
The central entrance consists of a boarded door with an overlight above it. To the right of the door is a 12-pane sash window, and to the left is a 20th-century tripartite sash window. Above the door, there is a shorter 12-pane sash window, and the outer bays contain 20th-century casement windows. The roof is very steeply pitched, featuring end stacks and reverse-stepped coping.
The outbuilding to the left has one small window and a blocked doorway positioned close to the side of the house. The outbuilding on the right has a boarded door in a similar location, and both outbuildings have steeply-pitched roofs with reverse-stepped coping.
