Description

Town Farmhouse is a house built between 1820 and 1830, with a porch added around 1910. It was constructed for the Commissioners of Greenwich Hospital and features an ashlar exterior with a Scottish slate roof. The building is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys with five bays. There is a plinth and pilaster strips, and the central bay slightly projects forward. The added central porch has a cornice and a flush-panel door on the left side, with the cornice of the original door surround visible above. The windows are sash style with projecting sills, and the second and fifth bays on the first floor have original 12-pane sashes. A band runs along the first floor, and there is a projecting eaves cornice with a blocking course. The roof is hipped and features two brick ridge stacks.

At the rear, there is a long, lower three-bay service wing.

Inside, the farmhouse has a staircase with iron lyre-shaped balusters, six-panel doors with shutters, and fireplaces that have fluted surrounds and paterae. The cornice in the front room is decorated with acanthus scrolls.
