Description

This is a milepost dating from around 1830, located approximately 440 yards east of Edgehouse. It is made of sandstone and has a triangular shape, standing about 2 feet high. The milepost is painted white with black letters. One side is inscribed with "Otterburn" and the other side indicates distances to "Newcastle 11 miles" and "Jedboro 40 miles." The road was surveyed in 1829.
