Description
This building is a byre and barn dating from the 18th century, located to the east of No. 2 in Belsay Harnham. It is constructed of random rubble with a dressed stone section on the right. The roof is made of Welsh slate on the front pitch and stone slate on the rear. The structure is single storey.
On the left side, the byre features a boarded door set in an alternating-block surround, which is dated 1744 and marked with the initials "T.L." To the right, there are boarded double doors leading to the barn, and further right, in a different type of masonry, is another boarded door dated 1786, also marked "T.L." The building has a steeply-pitched gabled roof. The initials represent the Leighton family, who have owned Harnham since 1702.
