4/68 Garden walls and dovecote to south of Nos. 3 and 4

GV II

Garden walls and dovecote. Date uncertain. Dressed stone. The dovecote has Welsh slate roof.

Walls round 3 sides of garden. Approx 8 ft high on east and west, lower to south. Flat coping.

Dovecote, in south-east corner, 2 storeys, 1 bay. On west side a small boarded door on each floor. On south side 2 pigeon holes with stone alighting ledges. Gabled roof.

Inside, the ground floor is tunnel vaulted with 2 chamfered transverse ribs strengthening the vault. Said locally to have been used as the village mortuary.
