Description
Nos. 3 and 4 Harnham are two houses that were originally a house and a hind's cottage, dating from the early 18th century and altered in the early 19th century. The buildings feature roughly-dressed stone walls approximately 3 feet thick, topped with Welsh slate and stone slate roofs. They are two storeys high with four irregular bays and a single-storey, one-bay extension to the left.
No. 3 has a lobby-entry plan and includes a four-panel door set in a raised surround with roll-moulded edges, along with 12-pane sash windows. The gabled roof has one ridge and two end stacks. The door to No. 4 is located at the rear.
At the rear, there are two outshuts, and the doorway to the single-storey section is adorned with a moulded triangular hood supported by curved stone brackets.
Inside No. 3, there are two late 18th-century fireplaces; one features urns and anthemia in the frieze, while the other has Gothick fan vaulting that supports the cornice. Additionally, there is a large panelled cupboard with segmental-arched double doors and several two-panel doors throughout.
