Milestone. Probably c.1829. Sandstone, painted white. Triangular with rounded back. c.20 inches high. Inscribed on one side Otterburn,and on the other Newcastle 5 miles 25 miles

The Newcastle-Jedburgh Turnpike was opened in 1776 but this section is a new line of 1829.
