Description

Catcherside Cottage is a bastle house dating from the late 16th century to the early 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The building is constructed from random rubble that is 1 metre thick and features very large quoins. It measures approximately 24 feet by 45 feet and stands two storeys high with three bays. A 20th-century central door is set within a 19th-century wooden porch. The cottage has early 19th-century Yorkshire sash windows, although the intermediate glazing bars have been removed. The roof is gabled and includes corniced end stacks. There is a blocked round-arched bastle door located on the right return of the building.
