Description
Kirkhelpington Vicarage is a house that was formerly a vicarage, dating from the 18th century, with an older core. It was largely rebuilt in the mid-18th century by Rev. William Ellison. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and has a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and features five bays, with lower one-bay side wings. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with an overlight above. The windows are renewed four-pane sashes, while the lower wing to the left has two 20-pane sashes. The roof is gabled and has corniced white brick end stacks, along with a stone corniced end stack on the lower wing to the right.
The rear facade displays irregular window placement and includes a short projecting cross-gabled wing with a two-storey canted bay. This bay features a door with six flush panels and three eight-pane sashes above. The roof is steeply pitched.
Inside, there is a wall about five feet thick, believed to be a remnant of a former tower. The interior also includes six-panelled doors and internal shutters.
