Description
This is a milestone located 1200 metres south of New Moor crossroads, likely dating from the late 18th century. It is made of cut sandstone and features a slender, square, flat-topped pillar. The upper part of the front face is faceted and has incised figures indicating the distances of 4 miles to Rothbury and 8 miles to Alnwick. The overall height of the milestone is 0.90 metre.
