Description

This is a milestone from the early 19th century, made of sandstone. It has a triangular-section pillar that stands approximately 0.6 metres high. The milestone features incised lettering that reads "R B" for Rothbury, "30" for the distance to Rothbury, and "H" for Hexham, with "1" indicating the distance to Hexham. It is located south of the old road, 12 metres west of the entrance to the Hermitage.
