Description
There are 12 boundary stones located on the boundary with Edlingham civil parish, likely dating from the 18th century. These stones are made of sandstone and are roughly-shaped rectangular pillars, standing between 0.50 and 0.75 metres high. They feature incised letters: an "N," which may represent the Duke of Northumberland, on the south-west side, and an "S," indicating Swinburne, on the north-east side. One of the stones, located at NU 07720611, was found lying down during the survey. Another stone, indicated by the Ordnance Survey at NU 08130582, could not be located.
