Description

140 Coniscliffe Road is a large villa from the early 19th century, currently used as offices. The building has three storeys and features five windows. It is constructed of pinkish brick with a low-pitched hipped slate roof, which is mostly covered by a long chimney stack that has twelve pots. The recessed sash windows, which have glazing bars, are topped with gauged flat brick arches and are set in stucco-lined reveals. The entrance has an altered door within a prostyle Doric porch that is supported by paired fluted columns. On the left side, there are late 19th-century half-octagonal bays that have been added. The right side of the building includes two segmental oriel bows and two blank panels that are painted to resemble trompe l'oeil windows.
