Description

31 and 32 Bondgate is a pair of early 18th-century buildings located on the south side of Bondgate. The southern part, formerly No 30, is a two-storey structure with three windows. It is constructed of painted brick and features a double span design. The building has a steeply pitched, swept pantiled roof with a wood moulded and modillioned eaves cornice, two ridge stacks, and an additional stack at the left end, all made of old brick. The sash windows have glazing bars and are topped with gauged flat brick arches in flush wood architraves.

The northern part, originally one house, is also early 18th century and consists of two storeys with five windows. This section is made of painted brick with a rendered parapet, raised quoins, and parapet coping. It has a high pitched pantiled roof with end chimneys and an L-shaped stack at the junction with a gable-ended rear wing, which features a round-headed early 19th-century window. The first-floor sash windows have glazing bars in near-flush box frames, while the ground floors are concealed by a projecting modern shopfront.
