Description
Number 39, including the rear premises fronting onto Burns' Yard, is an early to mid-18th century house that stands two storeys high and features four windows. The left bay of the building has an elliptical headed archway leading to Burns' Yard. It is constructed of pinkish brick and has a high-pitched roof, which has been renewed with clay tiles, and includes chimneys at the center and right end. The first floor has replaced sash windows set within flush wood architraves. Below, there is a modern double shop front. Under the archway, there is a six-panel door framed by a wood architrave. At the back, there is a long 18th-century wing with a pantiled roof and some original horizontal sliding sash windows, although the ground floor openings have been altered.
