Description

This is an early to mid-18th century house, originally of three storeys and five windows. It is constructed of pinkish brick with red brick quoins, topped by a stone-coped parapet. The original sash windows have been replaced, but retain replaced brick arches within near-flush box frames; some of these replacement windows have glazing bars. Late 19th century shops project from the ground floor. The rear elevation is of higher quality and in better condition, built of brownish brick with red brick dressings and featuring finely-gauged window arches with triple raised brick keys. A similar key is incorporated into the design of the round window on the first floor. Nos 35 and 35A, together with Nos 39, 36 and 36A, form a group with the forecourt wall of the nearby Unitarian Chapel.
