Description
Numbers 31 and 32 are semi-detached houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of yellow brick set in Flemish bond, with stucco detailing and roofs made of Welsh and artificial slate. The houses rise four storeys over a basement and each has three windows on the main fronts.
The entrance to the outer bay is segmental-arched and set back under a round arch with a gauged brick head. The entrance features a reeded doorcase, a fanlight, and a panelled door that retains its original design for number 31. All windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads. The first-floor windows are of piano nobile proportions and have iron balconies, while the windows of number 32 include blind boxes and 6/6 sashes of original design. There is a stucco storey band above the ground floor and a parapet.
Number 31 has a two-storey wing on the right side, which features segmental-arched tripartite windows on both floors, a moulded stucco sill band on the first floor, and a stuccoed cornice with a blocking course decorated with wreaths. Number 32 has a single-storey three-sided canted bay on the right with cambered-arched windows. The area railings are of a simple cross-bar design. A previous listing description mentions a large reception room with marbled columns in the wing of number 31.
